The past 7 months of this global pandemic have brought with it a lot of uncertainty.
I (Karl) have personally found myself on a yo-yo ride of emotions. Emotions of fear and anxiety, confusion and skepticism, disappointment, despondency, and even some hopeful moments of fortitude and peace. And with the election only days away, even more uncertainty looms. If we are not careful, we can easily let our focus drift towards all of the perceived chaos around us and risk being overcome by all of the swirling emotions.

As I’ve had to re-center myself time and time again over the past months, there is one certainty to which I keep clinging. One assurance that overcomes all uncertainty. One truth, one fact, one conviction that puts all of the swirling emotions in their place and renews my spirit of confidence.

“For by him [Jesus] all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:16-17

There is nothing outside of God’s control. There is nothing that he isn’t working together for his glory. There is no wavering in the will of God, no uncertainties in the judgment of Christ, no vacillation in the Spirit of God.

Buckle up if you need to, because this wild ride may not be over yet. But don’t just fasten your seat belt. Focus your mind, fix your gaze, and remain tethered to Christ. Jesus Christ is still on his throne, he is in control of all things, and nothing can thwart his purposes. (Job 42:2)

The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
Psalm 103:19
